Azerbaijan 2018 (Spring)

On this cheeky weekend getaway Robyn and I took off to Azerbaijan, a country nestled between the Caspian Sea, Iran, Georgia, and Russia. A former Soviet state, Azerbaijan is now an oil-rich independent country and was very interesting to visit.

We spent 2 nights in the Upper Causcus Mountains in a small village called Latchi.  Latchi is famous for is high quality copper craftsman.  Considering the stony terrain, harsh winters, and remoteness - the hardy villagers were incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially when not many westerners are seen in this part of the world.

We then spent 3 nights in the Old Town of Baku.  We were both surprised at the medieval European feel to the old town.  We were also very please with the Persian carpets we bought.
