Iceland 2018 (Summer)
There is no other place like Iceland. It's like being on the set of a mythical movie where everything is enormous and spectacular - you're always waiting for a dragon to slide down a glacier, or Thor to appear from behind a waterfall. It's a thermal and geological wonder.
We drove the Iceland Ring Road (also called Þjóðvegur 1) over 8 days. Too many waterfalls to list, but a favorite was Dettifoss (foss means 'falls' in Icelandic). Robyn realised a lifetime bucket-list item by observing wild puffins. She even got to pat one orange-beaked fella.

Diamond Beach was a real highlight. Here, the icebergs, which have broken from Jokulsarlon glacier, are battered by the waves and end-up washing ashore on the black volcanic sand. Our last day was also memorable - we snorkeled some of the clearest (and coldest) water on the planet. Amazingly, we were snorkeling in an active fissure between two tectonic plates. At one point, you can place one hand on the North American plate and the other on the Eurasian!
